Expressions is a business based upon home and family. The company was officially launched in 2005. Through years of ignoring the sewing machine I had grown up sewing on, I pulled it out of the closet and began to learn how to sew quilts. (The first quilt I made is shown in the gallery under general rag quilts.). My mother guided me through my first quilt and the rest they say is history.
Currently, we create custom photo quilts that celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, graduation, and life. We also utilize t-shirts and old clothes to create warm cozy quilts filled with a lifetime of memories for the recipients.
As Expressions continues to grow, we want to offer the same love for creating that is featured at our business. After almost 20 years in education, we utilize our teaching and training skills to offer a wide range of classes. As a company that is most concerned about utilizing resources one already has in their possession. we offer Upcycling Classes & Workshops as well.
Upcycling is a component of sustainability in which we use materials, items that we no longer find useful or are ready to discard. It is a process of investing into these older products to provide new products. The term Upcycling was coined by William McDonough and Michael Braungart, authors of Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things.
Upcycling allows us to re-invest in items already in circulation in our environment to create something of greater use or value to individuals. The desired goal and purpose of upcycling is to reduce waste in our environment.
You can keep track of our upcycling ideas and patterns by checking out our Upcycling Tab. We are constantly exploring new ways to save money by utilizing our current resources and minimizing the waste that is created.
We hope you will continue to visit this website as we grow and make continue changes and add-ons to this site. If you want to be notified as changes occur, please go to the Newsletter Tab and sign up today.
